It is not 'different'. It should be called 'unique'.

YU Ruoan, 24, whose right hand injured since young and turned disable. She finished her bachelor degree in South China University of Technology, one of the top universities in China, and she is now studying for her Master degree in Chinese University of Hong Kong.


Growing up in a harmonious family in Guangzhou, YU is always described as an ‘excellent’ girl. Though she got injured in an accident since 5 and lost her right hand, she is not inferior at all. She used to experience that everyone seized her up with curious eyes. Embraced by full of love and support from her family and friends, YU is not fear of these psychological pressure at all.


“I never think I am ‘different from’ others. Instead, I think I am the ‘unique’ one. They made me stronger.” She never felt that others dislike her or discriminate her. Instead, she received more love and care during her growth.


YU only gots few hours class per week. But she prefers go to school everyday although there is no class. According to herself, the atmosphere in school is one of the reasons she goes there everyday. "I can focus on my own stuff easily at school."

"I love to keep the cold tower on my eyes every morning because it is the best way to make me fresh."

Actually, YU thinks she has no problem on doing anything. "Unique person can do something else than ordinary people.

YU enjoys every moment when she is doing her daily makeup routine.

YU is checking her assignment on university system.

Computer programming is not easily for girls universally. YU tried her best to learn Python by herself. "At least I know how it works!"

YU is not good at cooking. To eat healthier, she will cook some simple dishes by herself at home.

YU always stands in the middle of the place when she is waiting for someone because it is obvious for her friend to see.

Her favorite meal of a day is the late night meal. "The foods are so attractive to me and I buy it almost everyday .The staff even knows what I want."

YU is showing her photo with her boyfriend on the graduation ceremony of her bachelor degree. She met her boyfriend since high school. They get into the same university for undergraduate program.

YU shares house rent with 3 other students from mainland China. According to her, these girls are easy-going and bring a lot of fun for her life.

Before sleep, she checks her social media. Yu says, she will sometimes forget to reply the message. To make sure that there is no one left, she will make sure before sleep.

Not every disable person can become successful but every of them can lives in this kind of excellence.
