What is startup?
According to one of my lecturers, Ken Singer, it is an act of rebellion. It is risky. It has high possibility of failure. It will be adventurous. But everyone will learn a lot during this journey.
I am a journalism student, with little knowledge of engineering, business and computer science. There was a chance that I attended Data and Media Hackathon hosted by our home university. My team built an idea about VR entertainment facilities on aircraft, although it did not stand out from other ideas among more than 7 other universities among Hong Kong. This idea is still in my mind and with an interest to realise it, I joined startup semester program in UC Berkeley.

How can I realise it?
Berkeley locates in Bay Area, which is close to Silicon Valley. The old Chinese saying goes: Right place and right time. There is nowhere better than learning entrepreneurship here. Visiting as much companies as possible, knowing as much people as I can, expanding the network and learning more from others are my goals here for the semester. To differentiate from traditional exchange program, these are the highlight that startup semester program offers us.

I visited Google and Samsung in the past few days. They both have things in common. One of those is innovation, through which I come up with a question, is innovation a must in entrepreneurship? Or entrepreneurs become successful is because they created something that never exists before? These are what I am going to figure out during the semester.
What is more?
Travelling around is also one of my goals during the semester. I AM NOT HERE ONLY FOR STUDYING! Before the semester begin, I have already been to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon Park, Horseshoe bend and Antelope Canyon. The US is rich for its natural tourist attractions and there are still a lot of places for me to explore.
